LADY CAPTAINS LOG

< Back to news

Good afternoon Ladies,

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I write to you all to confirm that we will be back to competitions after 29th June.  (Please note; however, things are changing daily, so if there are any updates, we will advise ASAP).  In relation to the Captain’s day, we had provisionally hoped to proceed in July, but again Synergy is waiting on information from the GUI and ILGU on their next protocol to confirm if this is feasible.  It is quite challenging to plan due to the circumstances outside of our control in relation to COVID 19, but I can assure you all that the ladies committee and Synergy are doing our best to keep you all informed and up to date on any changes as soon as we can.

In the meantime, golf must go on so for your information and a reminder to you all that the WHS is coming into effect from November this year.  Terri, our very capable handicap secretary, is working hard attending workshops and reading up on the new system and will put together an information pack for all members going forward.  Please see some brief information below on the WHS.

The World Handicap System (WHS) will be launched from 2nd November 2020 and will provide golfers with a unified and more inclusive handicapping system for the first time.

A key objective of the initiative was to develop a modern system, enabling as many golfers as possible to obtain and maintain a Handicap Index. Golfers will be able to transport their Handicap Index globally and compete or play a casual round with players from other regions on a fair basis. It will also indicate the score a golfer is reasonably capable of achieving the next time they go out to play.

We plan to issue a series of ‘WHS Info’ pieces over the coming weeks, so make sure you keep up to date by checking the correspondence from our Hon. Secretary Ruth in her ‘communications hub’!

If you then have further queries on the WHS, you can send them to Ruth at grangecastleladies.honsec@gmail.com  who will forward them to the Handicap Secretary. Additional information/clarifications will then be issued if necessary.

If Carlsberg did handicaps…!!!
Enjoy your golf ladies,
Yours in golf,

Susan
